The Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s Draft Budget for the 2025/26 financial year has sparked growing concern and debate among political parties and the local business community, with transparency, service delivery, and debt management emerging as key issues.

During a Draft Budget Consultation held at Ermelo Inn—hosted by local businessman Lakesh Maharaj—members of the public and the private sector gathered to engage with municipal representatives on the proposed financial roadmap. However, the Mayor, Mayoral Committee, and municipal officials were notably absent, a point of concern for many attendees who expected direct dialogue with decision-makers.
