Approximately 250 community members pitched for the event. For a fee or donation, people could participate in the Night Run. Runners dressed up in fun, bright neon colours and armed with torches and glowsticks took on the 5 km trail at Kralinberg Estate.
Jan Bredenhann came in first place in the adult race, followed by Baruch Büchling in second place and Johan Victor in third place. Ethan Crompton claimed first place in the children's race, followed by Tiaan Bezuidenhout and Elané Dos Reis in third place.
According to the brains and coordinator of this event, Kate du Plessis, they raised R17 000 with the Night Run. In addition, R42 000 was raised by outsiders who either joined the event virtually or donated after hearing about this initiative.
"Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what a HUGE success it would turn out to be," Kate told iNews. She also thanked the community, her team, and the sponsors that made the Night Run Fundraiser a success.
