iNEWS 22 May 09:30 Update Accident N17 According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesperson for the local SAPS, the N17 will remain closed for clean-up after an accident involving 2 trucks and 3 light vehicles. The accident occured on the N17 +/- 20km outside Ermelo, direction Bethal between 05:00 and 05:30 this morning. The clean-up of diesel and coal spillage due to the accident is underway, but according to Capt Prinsloo it may still take some time. The driver of one of the trucks and the driver of a BMW involved in the accident sadly passed away at the scene. Two people were critically injured and taken to hospital in Ermelo where they are being treated. Motorists are advised to make use of alternative routes as the back-up of traffic is hampering the clean-up process.
