On Wednesday, 15 March, a public participation meeting was held between Geovicon Environmental (Pty) Limited (the independent environmental consultant appointed to prepare a scoping report for the proposed Nooitgedacht Colliery) and concerned residents of the Ermelo community regarding the opening of a new mine, 3.26 km from Ermelo.
