Swift response saves Ermelo residence from major fire damage
On Wednesday morning, 24 July 2024, Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services swiftly responded to a residential fire in McDonald Street, Ermelo. The alarm was raised through local security WhatsApp groups, prompting an immediate response from the fire brigade.
The son-in-law of the senior citizen residing in the flat received a call from his mother-in-law at approximately 08:45, notifying him of the fire. He and his brother immediately rushed to the house with multiple extinguishers and began battling the blaze. By the time firefighters arrived at approximately 08:58, the fire was already under control. The firefighters then doused the smoldering car and carport structure, ensuring the safety of the residence and its occupants, and making sure the fire was completely extinguished.
